Adams Wednesday pick with Analysis

For Wednesday in baseball, Top-Rated 1000♦ on the host Oakland Athletics against the visiting Detroit Tigers. Your listed pitchers are Scherzer and Griffin. Note: Both listed pitchers must start or NO action on the release.

The A's gritted out the 2-0 win last night to make it a 52-31 record in their ballpark this season. The win helped the Athletics avoid elimination and dumped the Tigers to just 38-44 on the road for the season. As you can see, home field means something to these clubs, and it will mean something again tonight when they hit the field.

Going with Oakland to force a 5th game tomorrow, as I am not convinced Max Scherzer is healthy enough to give Jim Leyland what he is looking for. Scherzer was forced to leave a late season start against Detroit with shoulder fatigue after just 2 innings of work. He then worked just 5 frames in a loss to Minnesota in his next scheduled start, missed his next start after that, then injured his ankle in the team's playoff celebration win over Kansas City on October 1st.

Scherzer claims he feels good, and that may be the case, but there is enough doubt in my mind that I will go with the A's to chase him.

AJ Griffin goes for Oakland, and his ONLY loss in 15 big leagde starts to date is a mid-September shellacking at the hands of Detroit. Other that that, the kid has been stellar: 7-1 with a 3.06 ERA, and the A's have been able to win 7 of Griffin's 8 home starts for the season.

All about the last at-bat again tonight, and Oakland is the team holding the hammer when it comes to that!

Going with the A's to knot things up at 2-2.

Note: Both listed pitchers must start, or NO action on the release.

I don't have any records on Trace Adams but with a nickname of Fade Adams how good can he be? LOL

We will find out if he is a good fade as the days go by. If it doesn't work out we will move on.

Adams Thursday Pick with Analysis

For Thursday night, 1500♦ NFL Winner #3 in a Row is the Tennessee Titans as the home underdog against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers. At the time I release this selection, the Titans are the +6 1/2-point home dogs both in Las Vegas and at the offshore books.

Of course the Steelers are the chalk here, why wouldn't they be, as Tennessee has looked like shit the past 2 weeks, and 4 of the 5 weeks this season for that matter. Here is the shot at redemption for the Titans who are playing the Steelers back at LP Field after playing the past 2 weeks at Houston (5-0) and Minnesota (4-1).

Tennessee's last home game was that wild 44-41 overtime outright against the Detroit Lions, as the Titans improved to 5-3 against the spread since 2008 in the home underdog role.

You saw the maligned Jets step up on Monday night in the home underdog role and deliver the against the spread cover, and if there is one thing I have learned in the NFL, that is to never count out the home underdog in prime time contests!

Just last Thursday the Rams were small home dogs to the undefeated Cardinals, and St. Louis scored outright. That puts the underdog on Thursday nights on a 3-0 spread run the past 3 weeks (Cleveland and NY Giants both cashing), and given Pittsburgh's alarming road woes, I feel good about grabbing the home dog again tonight.

The Steelers have lost outright in both road games this year, and are now on an 0-6 away slide, and are an overall 2-10 against the number their last dozen road games dating back to the 2010 campaign.

Pittsburgh is dealing with some key defensive injuries, and now back-up QB Matt Hasselbeck has been around this league long enough to know how to exploit those injuries.

Another Thursday night, another underdog cover.

Take the Titans plus the points.

Adams Friday Pick with Analysis

For Friday night in baseball, Top-Rated 1000♦ on the host Washington Nationals against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Your listed pitchers are Gonzalez and Wainwright. Note: Both listed pitchers must start or NO action on the release. At 8:00 am eastern, the Nats are listed as the -130 favorite.

Going to keep this short-and-sweet....I am backing Gio Conzalez and his 23 straight scoreless HOME innings to put an end to the Cardinals season this Friday night in DC. St. Louis was 4-0 last October in elimination games as they went on to win the World Series crown, but that was last year.

Gonzalez earned the win over Adam Wainwright (no decision with 1 run allowed in 5-plus frames) in Game 1, but Gonzalez seemed a little nervous, lasting only 5 frames with 7 walks issued. Back at home where he has won his last 4 decisions and worked 23 scoreless will help the southpaw settle down.

Wainwright is just 4-7 with an over 4 ERA on the road this season, and his team is just 2-9 their last 11 games played on Washington's turf. With the Nats sporting a 51-32 mark in the own park, going to lay the juice this Friday night as the Nationals advance to face San Francisco in the NLCS.

Note: Both listed pitchers must start, or NO action on the release.
